Faith Formation Ministries
Faith Formation Ministries of St. Gabriel’s include: Christian Education, Family Service, Youth Sunday Service, Adult Bible Study, a Cradle Roll Ministry, and Confirmation Classes.
Our Christian Education Ministry supports youth and families in their faith journey through an Intergenerational Faith Formation approach. from October through June. We work with families to connect church and home through faith conversations and participation in worship. In June our Family Service is held in an outdoor location, and in February/March we host a spiritual Family Breakfast. Sometimes we organize Fall and Summer trips. Anyone may join us for our ministry events.
On the first Sunday of the Month respective families lead the Family Service at 9:30 AM. The lead family is responsible for selecting the hymns/songs, identifying family members to read the lessons and prayers, and opening the service with spontaneous prayer.
On the 2nd, 3rd, 4th Sundays of the month, Christian Education sessions are held in the Golden Hall, 8:40 – 9:40 AM, and 11:40 AM – 12:40 PM. Youngsters who attend the 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM services may report to their session after listening to the sermon.
Our work with the children and teens encourages Bible reading and discussion, and spontaneous prayer. Our curriculum is mainly based on the Liturgical Calendar which helps to provide an understanding of the basic elements of our faith as we move through the church’s year.
Every fifth Sunday we celebrate Youth Sunday, with the youths ushering and taking lead roles in the Service. The youths present the sermon of the day in a non-traditional format and use their talent in offering praise through musical selections by the youth choir and/or instrumental renditions and dance.
For more information about enrolling your child, reach out to Edna Loncke, Christian Education Superintendent.

Luke 18: 16
“But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for such is the kingdom of God.”
We at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church have a very vibrant and loving Cradle Roll Ministry. Prior to the day of Baptism, we hold preparation meetings with parents and Godparents to discuss the sacrament of Baptism. On the day of their baptism, each baptismal candidate has a baptismal bib placed on them before the ceremony. After baptism, the mother of each candidate is presented with a lighted candle and a gift bag with tokens of support on behalf of our Cradle Roll Ministry. Additionally, parents are encouraged to join us for our Sunday services especially our Family Service which is held on the first Sunday of each month at 9.45 am.

“Confirmation is the (sacramental) rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and laying on of hands by a bishop.” (BCP, p.860)
Preparation for Confirmation is a requirement for persons wishing to be confirmed. This is done through a course of study.
